The Senior VMD Specialist supports the Prestige Sales team in elevating brand presence through innovative store design and visual merchandising across department stores and Semi-self-stores. This role serves as a key bridge between management strategy and field execution, leading complex counter design projects and providing guidance to junior team members while ensuring premium in-store experiences for luxury beauty brands.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Advanced Visual Merchandising & Store Design Execution

• Lead planning and implementation of counter designs for major store openings and high-profile outposts
• Oversee seasonal visual updates and maintenance schedules, ensuring timely execution across all doors
• Manage complex vendor coordination, production timelines, and cost control for fixtures and displays
• Maintain consistency with global visual guidelines while strategically adapting to local market needs

Retail Environment Optimization & Strategic Support

• Conduct regular on-site inspections to analyze visual standards and brand storytelling effectiveness
• Proactively collaborate with retailers to enhance consumer experience through optimized layout and zoning strategies
• Lead podium and promotional space planning for seasonal campaigns, proposing creative solutions for space maximization
• Support the VMD Manager in strategic planning and budget allocation

Cross-functional Collaboration & Leadership   

• Work closely with Marketing and Sales teams to ensure alignment of launch timelines and strategic objectives
• Coordinate directly with APAC and Global teams on visual updates, serving as a primary point of contact for assigned brands
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to VMD Specialists, fostering capability building and overall team development

Project & Vendor Management

• Oversee external production partners, ensuring rigorous quality control and cost efficiency
• Manage budgets and invoice processing independently in line with internal procedures
• Supervise installation schedules, including occasional travel and night work, troubleshooting issues on-site

Experience & Skills

• 3+ years of experience in visual merchandising within the cosmetics or luxury retail industry
• Advanced design creation 2D skills using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Proven experience in project leadership, including POPUP events, develop to fixtures.
• Strong project management skills, Vendor management, Budget control capabilities
• Experience in mentoring junior team members
• 3D Skills in CAD or SketchUp are like to preferred

Language & Cultural Competency

• Native-level Japanese proficiency
• Able to draft and comprehend documents in English
• Ability to translate global brand strategies into localized visual executions effectively

• Creative and detail-oriented with a strong sense of aesthetics and commercial awareness
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders
