Senior Finance Manager
ROLE
Financial Senior Manager is a co-pilot role within the Japan Business Unit, located in Tokyo. The incumbent will get exposure to working across functions in an exciting and fast paced environment. This role will lead with all end-to-end planning, reporting and analysis activities, to deliver a high standard of reporting and analytical support to the business. Senior Finance Manager, Japan Lead Team, is responsible for the BU’s profitability in Japan and serves as the primary liaison to Asia Region and the central finance team, delivering timely financial insights to shape strategy and drive aligned outcomes.
On top, the incumbent will contribute to strengthen internal controls/SOX together with improving ways of working efficiency. It will cover both Prestige and Consumer Beauty divisions in a blooming market.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial reporting and analysis:
- Lead in preparation and analysis of reporting and analysis, with the privilege of covering the whole P&L of the business unit, from Gross Sales to Operating Income.
- Ensure timely, quality, complete and consistent in reporting, in particular for the Monthly Business Update.
- Work with BU team in interrogating results versus plan, forecasts, and latest outlook, establishing Risk and Opportunities, to ensure financial commitments are delivered.
Budgeting and forecasting:
- Own end to end planning drumbeats.
- Lead meaningful financial management information and reports, including Weekly sales update, Monthly Outlook review, Annual Operating Plan/ Forecast review and Sign-Off.
- Provide advanced modelling and analysis of data and reports as required by key stakeholders across the business. Maintain and update routine templates, look into areas for process improvement and streamline.
Finance Business partnering:
- Co-Pilot with Marketing, Sales and Supply Chain team on a regular basis for reporting and analysis matters, including Sales & Operating Planning cycle.
- Responsible for month-end close with the rest of the Finance team, and with direct ownership of below C2 items (fixed costs, FX impacts, Bad Debt, Warehousing).
- Develop good rapport and working relationship with other functions and markets. Gain sound understanding on Marketing / Sales / Supply Chain to better add value in the role.
Internal Controls & Finance Routine
- Review close Journal Entries preparation (Topline cut-off, Trade Fund Management, A&CP, bad debt).
- Review SOX filing documents, US GAAP Financial Reporting Pack for Corporate Accounting and contribute to strengthening internal control process.
- Ensure RSP – Retail Selling Prices and customer trade Margin.
Ad-hoc:
- Lead presentation for monthly/ quarterly management presentations, AOP, Forecast, Strat Plan, Outlook presentation, and ad-hoc presentation.
- Lead in ad-hoc projects as required (eg profitability analysis by SKU or reporting tool improvement or PowerBI automation or go-to-market analysis)
- Take initiative to improve status-quo.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor's degree or above with a minimum of 10 years in FP&A in a multinational company, ideally in Beauty sector with a Big 4 External Auditor experience.
- Fluent in English and Japanese
- Self-Motivated, driven, quick learner. Meticulous and well organized. Strong desire to learn along, to bloom in Coty, with a strong sense of ownership.
- Able to thrive despite challenges while adopting a positive attitude under pressure.
- Passionate, enthusiastic, team player
- Intermediate to advance skills in Excel (pivot tables, advance formulars, charts, etc.) and PPT. Experience in Power BI, SAP and Hyperion is a plus.
- Possesses cross-cultural awareness and high emotional intelligence.
- Persuasive, resilient and flexible, able to easily adapt to new challenges.
Presentation skills – ability to present and communicate with confidence.
