About the role:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for preparing payroll inputs/tickets for a Business Process Outsourcing team (BPO Team) and an outsourced payroll provider in order to process payroll. They will then be required to reconcile the processing outputs. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to payroll and employment in Australia. The Payroll Manager works with the BPO team, HR team and an external payroll provider to ensure that all employees are paid accurately and on time, while adhering to company policies and compliance requirements.
This is a 14 months Maximum Term Contract (4 days per week) for a Maternity Cover.
Your role:
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processes for Monthly payroll of all local employees, including payroll administration, time records and employee benefits.
- Liaising with Payroll outsource provider and BPO team to ensure a smooth and accurate payroll process by the deadline.
- Calculating monthly payroll adjustments, employee leave entitlements, parental leave payments, superannuation, redundancies, and terminations for BPO payroll review and ensuring payroll outsource providers calculations are accurate.
- Maintain payroll records, handle employee inquiries, provide support and guidance to employees on any HR or payroll related matters/processes.
- Manage Award interpretation and oversee the fortnightly payroll (150 to 220 employees) ensuring data accuracy.
- Analyse, reconcile and prepare End of Month reporting for Finance.
- Support Finance with FBT – Fringe Benefit Tax and any payroll related queries.
- Manage Novated Lease, company parking and American Express corporate card accounts.
- Reviewing, reconcile and finalise end of year reporting with payroll outsource provider.
- Ensuring data accuracy in HRIS system is maintained.
- Provide payroll data to auditors for the annual internal and external audit reviews.
- Prepare and submit WGEA – Workplace Gender Equality Agency and salary survey reports.
- Prepare and submit to the ATO – Australian Taxation Office, the Employee Share Scheme Reporting (ESS) on a yearly basis.
- In conjunction with HR, manage the annual Salary review process and the local bonus process with guidance from the Global team.
- Managing yearly workers compensation wages declarations and premium payments
- Managing Group Life and Salary continuation insurance policies
You will have:
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar capacity
- End-to-End payroll experience with knowledge of payroll legislation.
- Similar experience in a stand-alone and hands-on position being able to manage the payroll outsource provider and BPO team.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and manage competing demands.
- Great attention to detail, strong numerical skills, strong analytical, thinking and problem solving skills
- Competent Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- High level interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams including our payroll outsource provider and BPO team.
- Proactive and positive approach to work and tasks
- Ability to work under pressure and tenacity in managing change and complexity
- Strong communication skills
