Scientist, Consumer Beauty – Face Product Development

Location: Morris Plains, NJ

We are currently looking for a Scientist to join the Face Category and support the Consumer Beauty Division. You will work in the Face R&D Product Development Team to design and develop new color cosmetic products (foundations, concealers, primers, loose and pressed powders, etc) from insights to global distribution.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Formulating new cosmetic products to support the commercial innovation plan
• Building and understanding the competitive landscape and identifying consumer need gaps to develop the next generation of cosmetic products
• Monitoring and ensuring the quality of all new products in terms of stability, compatibility, microbiology, safety, and regulatory requirements
• Performing relevant formula related testing
• Building a correlation between instrumental testing and product performance
• Building the R&D capability in scientific communication & claims substantiation
• Responsible for end-to-end project management
• Working across R&D disciplines (process, analytical, packaging, etc.) as well as multifunctional teams to drive projects forward
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, safety, and GMP

We’d love to see candidates who have:

Essential:

• Minimum BS in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or related science, advanced degree preferred
• 3+ years of relevant Industry experience in consumer goods (makeup, skin, food).
• Experience with formulation and technical evaluation of products is desired. 
• Project management skills with a record of delivering to set milestones.
• Ability to manage multiple activities and priorities while delivering set milestones.
• Ability to translate consumer needs into technical deliverables.
• Ability to identify and solve problems.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate science and technology to a non-technical community.
• Team player and exhibit a “can do” attitude.
• Hands on individual, strong GLP and organizational skills.
• Internally motivated
