Toxicologist Principal

As a Principal Toxicologist, you will lead product safety and toxicological assessments for Third Party Manufacturer (TPM) cosmetic developments, ensuring compliance, product integrity, and consumer safety across key prestige brands. You will drive endtoend safety evaluation, partner crossfunctionally, and support innovation within a fastpaced R&D environment.

 

THE ROLE

 

OPTIMIZE, ENABLE, INNOVATE!

 

As our Principal Toxicologist, you play a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and integrity of TPM cosmetic products from development to market. You will act as the Product Integrity single point of contact, providing expert toxicological guidance and supporting business and R&D teams across Color Cosmetics and selected Fragrance and Skin projects.

You will be reporting to the Director, Product Safety, and you will manage:

Product Safety & Toxicological Assessment

  • Lead preassessments and final safety assessments (CPSR) in line with EU cosmetic regulations
  • Evaluate cosmetic formulas (makeup / skin care) developed by TPMs
  • Review and qualify raw material dossiers, including impurity assessments and safety evaluation of new ingredients
  • Issue safety opinions and ensure product integrity throughout the development cycle

TPM & CrossFunctional Partnership

  • Act as Product Integrity SPOC for TPM product development teams and TPM Regulatory Compliance
  • Own, maintain, and update the TPM Handbook
  • Evaluate TPM product integrity capabilities and expertise
  • Partner closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Marketing teams

Cosmetovigilance & Continuous Compliance

  • Support cosmetovigilance activities and follow up on adverse events for brands in scope
  • Represent Coty in external forums (e.g. FEBEA Cosmetovigilance task force)
  • Monitor regulatory and safety updates on ingredients and ensure implementation in internal databases
  • Track and manage sustainability and compliance data (e.g. RSPO values) in SAP

 

YOU ARE A COTY FIT

As an experienced toxicologist with a strong product safety background, you thrive in a fastpaced and diverse environment. You are agile, collaborative, and comfortable influencing across a matrix organization.

 

You bring:

  • Master’s degree in Toxicology or a related scientific field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product safety and risk assessment
  • Proven expertise in cosmetic safety evaluation and CPSR preparation under EU regulations
  • Strong knowledge of raw material safety assessment and cosmetovigilance principles
  • Experience in Color Cosmetics is a strong advantage
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly in English
  • Strong stakeholder management and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
