MISSION/ROLE SUMMARY:

 

Material Development Senior Specialist within Material Development team responsible for new material coding and problem solving around material supply disruptions/issues across the Active, Surfactant & UV filter material classes.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible of material development for Active, Surfactant & UV filter material classes including:

  • Create and maintain technical raw material specifications in systems to document successful qualification of new & existing raw materials.
  • Develop critical raw material information partnering with supplier for Coty Safety, Micro, Analytical and Regulatory clearance to ensure materials meet required technical attributes and claims.
  • Be force of proposition and guide formulators to existing and qualified materials when possible, according to the procurement strategy in place.
  • Responsible of Raw Material completion, and its due implementation on new & changed & alternate Raw Materials
  • Contribute to raw material data cleansing up if necessary.
  • Support Coty factories, procurement and TPM with material supply issue as technical expert by identifying alternate existing or new materials for business continuity purpose.
  • Able to define a qualification plan for alternative materials in due time.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to overcome material supply issues through technical solutions
  • Contribute to the evaluation and approval of new raw materials and /or alternate material partnering with relevant R&D, Procurement, Supply partners and suppliers
  • Screen for suitable raw materials via suppliers, fairs, networks, www.intelligence, etc.
  • Meet raw material suppliers to find novel & alternative ingredients for our formulae seeking to add and protect value of our products
  • Ensure new material learnings and knowledge are formalized as basis of knowledge management and retro-fed into new Initiatives
  • Ensure Technical support to Procurement, raw material screening and specification comparison
  • Ensure urgent qualification due to the project reactivation or the transfer of any unexpected formula or unexpected material supply issues

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong formulation background: Ideally 5 years of cosmetic formulation experience.
  • Strong Raw Material Chemistry knowledge especially in surfactant, sunscreens and active ingredient material classes.
  • Strong cosmetic product development knowledge
  • Advanced computer skills – MS Office (all areas), SAP AS400

  • Ability to work and collaborate in a cross-functional group understanding French & English.
  • Ability to be flexible, rigorous, autonomous, very reactive, open mind, with a good team spirt.
  • Ability to be independently organize and prioritize workload based on business needs
  • Ability to influence, coordinate to successfully push forward deliverables across R&D.
  • Ability to follow-up next steps & actions plan.
  • Ability to understand development and factory expectations ensuring productive dialogue according to the procurement strategy.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills across a wide range of audiences (Technical and non-technical)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS or EXPERIENCE EQUIVALENT

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry minimum
