The Senior Manager, Mass Fragrances is responsible for the development and implementation of business and marketing strategies and executions to increase household penetration and enhance profitability of the Mass Fragrance portfolio. They will be responsible for analyzing, planning and forecasting the relevant business segments and brands, as well as recommending strategies and making decisions that will drive growth.

 

The Senior Manager, Mass Fragrances will lead the development of robust go-to-market plans for the relevant business segments and brands, working closely with Global Marketing, Trade Marketing, PR/IM, eCommerce and crossfunctional partners to devise and deliver impactful and well-coordinated support programs that are executed with excellence. This individual will be the drive behind the success of new product launches, which they have overseen throughout the entire process. They will play a key role in collaborating with the other commercial functions, trade marketing & sales, in delivering local market expertise to both new brands that may launch as well as existing brands seeking category expansion and reinvention beyond their current footprints.

 

The Senior Manager, Mass Fragrances will report into the Senior Director, Sally Hansen & Mass Fragrances US Marketing, with strong collaborations with the Senior Director, Global Mass Fragrances US Marketing. Key stakeholders beyond internal crossfunctional teams include the license holders.

 

The Senior Manager, Mass Fragrances is versatile and knows their market, including the Mass class of trade and indirect eComm. They have a portfolio mindset and have strong analytical, leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and mobilize teams.

 

 

THE ROLE

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

 

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

  • Ongoing business analysis and reporting for the Mass Fragrance portfolio. Analyze and derive insights from sales trends, customer trends, and industry trends to recommend and/or make strategic choices and actions to drive the business. Maintain regular tracking of business results.
  • P&L responsibility through ownership of the retail sales forecast and brand budget.
  • Liaise with Trade Marketing and Sales to maintain timely inputs to brand forecast as well as ongoing Risks & Opportunities assessment. Develop actions and strategies to mitigate gaps and overdrive opportunities.
  • Formulate and execute national promotion strategy including Holiday Gift sets to drive critical Holiday KCP.
  • Forecast, manage and reconcile brand budgets, planning and prioritizing appropriate activities to support brand priorities and objectives.
  • Maintain close connection with Finance and Global Marketing to ensure A&CP spend is accurately reflected at the brand level and in compliance with global licensor contractually required spend.
  • Lead monthly S&OP process for the portfolio, including retail sales forecast, A&CP and Risks & Opportunities updates.
  • Create and maintain local activity grid, inclusive of innovation, media, promotions and events. Monitor excess & obsolete inventory and provide strategic recommendations on how to reduce / manage.

 

LAUNCHING INNOVATION & SUPPORTING BASE BUSINESS

  • Lead US innovation planning and launch execution, collaborating with brand marketing peers and cross-functional partners to deliver brand initiatives with excellence.
  • Develop and execute marketing support initiatives to drive core base business products.
  • Lead initiative sizing for innovation P&L with drive towards maximizing sales potential.
  • Ensure new products are in line with US brand strategy, trends, and future needs shared by retailers and shoppers. Advocate back to global on needs and optimizations.
  • Influence long-term global innovation pipeline by regularly communicating US commercial needs, including gaps, opportunities, executional mandatories, best-in-class examples, market trends, competitive insights and retailer needs.
  • Create and maintain local innovation calendar.
  • Deliver annual Holiday gift set performance assessment to inform what to stop/start/continue/adapt for subsequent Holiday season and feed back to global marketing.
  • Partner with Local POS & Social Digital Manager to assist in the development and execution of marketing support initiatives to drive core base business products.

 

MEDIA / ADVERTISING / PR

  • In partnership with Manager Social/Digital, develop fiscal year objectives, priorities and briefs for paid, owned and earned media.
  • In partnership with Manager Social/Digital, share timelines with our Global partners & track availability to ensure assets are received ahead of key deadlines, collate & share with the media agency.
  • Provide guidance and input to social media content calendar prepared by Social/Digital Manager and external agency.  Present content for approval to SVP Marketing. 
  • In partnership with Manager Social/Digital, work with internal PR / Influencer Marketing on full year earned media strategy and plan. Assist in preparation for all PR materials.

 

PREPARATION OF SALES / RETAILER MATERIALS

  • Oversee preparation for sales materials, including internal webinar presentations to Sales teams and retailer line reviews presentation materials.
  • Lead 1 Direct Report (Assistant Brand Manager) as key contract for the Sales Information Team to ensure commercial readiness milestones are completed on time.

 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS

 

We’d love to see candidates who have:

 

Essential:

  • 4-year Undergraduate Degree
  • 5-7 years of Marketing experience
  • At least 2 years of experience working in Mass channel
  • Beauty experience strongly preferred
  • Deep, unrelenting passion for Beauty
  • Eye for detail in both qualitative and quantitative aspects

 

Desirable:

  • Fragrances experience
  • English and Spanish bilingual preferred
  • Culturally Aware: Plugged into what’s trending, new and next and able to connect that awareness with business and planning strategies
  • Strategic: Planning, administration, facilitation, creativity, problem analysis, decision making
