MISSION

Support Coty’s sixth strategic pillar and ambition to become an industry leader in sustainability by building Coty’s ESG reputation externally, specifically with key ESG rating agencies and investors. Act as the voice of the investor within Coty, to ensure Coty’s ESG strategy meets the needs and expectations of ESG rating agencies and leading investors, including being key point of contact with investors on ESG matters, collecting feedback and reporting back to the Sustainability Steering Committee.

 

The role will also be responsible for Coty’s ESG ratings agency engagement, positioning Coty as an attractive ESG proposition. A large part of this role will also be to demonstrate performance against our Beauty That Lasts sustainability strategy by ensuring we have the right data architecture and reporting processes in place, informed by best practice and standards. This includes supporting delivery of Coty’s newly launched science-based climate targets by strengthening our existing carbon reporting processes to ensure timely and robust data collection across the business.

 

The role has a global scope, sitting within the global Corporate Affairs team and bridging between functional sub-teams on Sustainability and Investor Relations. Fostering cross-functional collaboration with the wider business will be essential to success.

 

THE ROLE

 

Ratings Agency & Investor Engagement

  • Lead Coty’s ESG Ratings agency engagement, with particular focus on MSCI
  • Respond to/lead engagement with investors on ESG, including acting as a spokesperson for Coty in calls/meetings.

 

Data & Reporting

  • Drive program to identify near-term ESG reporting strategy, in line with requirements (legal and best practice standards).
  • Lead on building a cohesive carbon reporting system with a focus on quarterly reporting output.
  • Lead on building an ESG data architecture for other indicators (such as diversity policies, health and safety standards, environmental management, etc.) with a focus on current and future reporting needs and ratings demands.

 

Sustainability Strategy

  • Leverage feedback from external stakeholders to help shape Coty’s ESG policies and data collection tools.
  • Monitor evolving landscape of ESG data (including reporting standards and ratings) and analyze emerging trends in ESG disclosures
  • Monitor and update the business (Sustainability Steering Committee, Corporate Affairs, Executive Committee and Board) on Coty ESG performance in relation to peers

 

Collaboration & Communication

  • Liaise with Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations teams to communicate Coty’s ESG progress externally.
  • Partner with functions (Supply Chain, Finance, HR, R&D, Procurement, Legal) across the business to secure data needs for external reporting and ESG ratings.
  • Input into sustainability education programs designed to upskill the business on sustainability.
  • Support internal & external communication on sustainability as required, including preparing statements and communications materials.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience in ESG and ESG Ratings including MSCI and Sustainalytics
  • Experience in carbon reporting
  • Understanding of ESG reporting standards including GRI, SASB, UN Global Compact
  • Understanding of Investor Relations
  • Holistic understanding of the ESG landscape and able to act as a spokesperson on the topic
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in environmental sustainability-related discipline desired
  • Understanding of ESG data tools and systems desired
