ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The team is organized in 3 parts :
- Quality assurance (1 manager)
- Finished Goods, components, and microbiology (1 senior manager, quality engineers, microbiologists and quality auditors)
- Chemistry (1 senior manager and chemists to cover bulk, Raw material inspection and industrialization.
You will work closely together with several departments such as production, planning, initiative, R&D. All your colleagues are supportive, passionate, and committed. Working in the team, you drive improvements and feel empowered.
THE ROLE
The role of the Quality director is to oversee all quality assurance and quality control (rom raw materials to finished products) functions at the manufacturing site. This role ensure the factory delivers Quality products in compliance with Safety, Quality and Regulatory requirements; meeting customers and consumers expectations. The quality director will drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage the quality team and collaborate with other departments to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency.
Key Success Measures
- KPI mgmt.: set, report and continuously improve key measures of success
- Key KPI’s – Compliance, Quality Alerts and Incidents, Right First Time, Defects, Consumer and Customer Complaints, Initiative Right First Time and Cost of Quality.
Core responsibilities:
- QHSE fundamentals: Apply, respect and enforce norms and process related with hygiene and safety in direct and indirect environment and including flow of products, people and machines. Escalate and share identified safety risks in quality department using safety management tools.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee the development and implementation of quality control procedures and standards. Ensure all products meet quality specifications before they reach the market. Is responsible to approve procedures and specifications.
- Regulatory Compliance: Is responsible for releasing site manufactured finished goods on the market. Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international regulations related to cosmetic manufacturing (GMP : ISO 22716, …) . Stay updated with changes in regulations and implement necessary changes promptly.
- Day to day: ensure that daily direction setting is in place to allow the right activities to be carried out on any given day. Assure raw material, pack materials, bulks and Finished goods are inspected according to Coty specifications. Investigate consumer complaints and provide feedback to consumer affairs and implement improvement actions to improve this result.
- Industrialization of New Products: ensure a seamless process from R&D through to industrialization.
- Supplier Quality: assessment and resolution of supply quality issues. Share with procurement quality requirements for new suppliers identification; develop continuous improvement program with suppliers in order to contribute to plant’s service and costs targets
- Documentation: development and maintenance of standard operating procedures
- RSPO : Manage RSPO audit and assure requirements regarding RSPO certification.
- Manage Overhead spend for QA department
- Halal : Act as a gatekeeper of all Halal regulations, including the delivery of in-house training here relevant
Leading the team:
- Team leadership and development: ensure the right people are within the right role, ensuring that performance is monitored, and development plans are in place for all team members
- Remain neutral: ensure that your team are acting as the eye of the customer in order to get the best out of the site
- Leadership : Act as member of the leadership team of the site leading Quality in all areas as a member of this team
Continuous improvement
- Process repeatability and non-quality costs: in strong collaboration with production and operational excellence teams, develop and deploy a program and associated actions plans to improve process mastery and repeatability and to reduce non quality costs of the factory.
- Stakeholder mgmt.: Ensure a strong Partnership with other functions for delivery of factory’s key results including R&D, Marketing, Procurement, etc
- Change mgmt.: ensure that change within the manufacturing site is managed from a quality perspective
Project management
- Be able to define project charters, clear success criteria, planning and deliver the objective on a timely and quality manner

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Chemistry master or equivalent degree qualified
- 5 or more years’ site based quality leadership experience within cosmetics/consumer goods/Medical device/pharmaceutical industry
- Be familiar with relevant laws and regulations (ISO 22716, …) , mandatory national standards, technical specifications
- Be familiar with statistical sampling rules (ISO2859)
- Strong capabilities in root cause problem solving, process control technics and change management monitoring
- Knowledge of bulk making, Production packing processes and filling techniques
- Knowledge and experience of R&D or industrialization of new products
