PACKAGING TECHNOLOGIST - INTERN

POSITION WILL START IN THE SUMMER AND WILL BE A 12 MONTH FTC
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Role Overview
The purpose of the Packaging Technologist is to work on the introduction of new product initiatives and optimise cost/productivity efficiencies at site level.
Key Success Measures
- Support the execution of initiative projects as directed by the Supply Chain Packaging Technologists and Packaging Transformation and Capability Leader
- Execution of packaging and packaging focussed production cost optimisation projects
- Site and supplier technical support for packaging materials
- Development of effective working relationships with R&D and suppliers
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Project Execution
- Work on new product initiatives to time, cost and quality measures, including development of secondary and tertiary packaging solutions & construction and writing of individual component specifications.
- Execute handover against aligned success criteria from Supply Chain Packaging to Production
- Reporting of component supplier performance (1-2 suppliers) and provide ongoing assessment of component supplier performance (1-2 suppliers) as contributor to supplier reviews.
- Ensuring management of production line trials for packaging and product validation meet packaging criteria.
Technical Expertise
- Development of secondary and tertiary packaging solutions.
- Construction and writing of individual component specifications.
- Providing support for technical validation of new components necessary to support Production and Planning capacity plan needs
- Contributing to issue resolution such as Root Cause Analysis by providing packaging knowledge support to Production and Quality functions.
- Support component and finished goods testing as part of technical validation as directed by Supply Chain Packaging Technologists and Packaging Transformation and Capability Leader
- Data administration for packaging aspects of business software to include Bills Of Materials and logistics data.
- Regular use of SAP to ensure the accuracy of data and records
