Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer
Working from Monday to Friday, in two shifts and Friday short working hours.
We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join our Operations team in Ashford. In this role, you will ensure the reliability, optimization, and continuous improvement of control systems, enabling safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing performance.
THE ROLE
OPTIMIZE, ENABLE, INNOVATE!
As our Multiskilled Engineer you play a critical role in maintaining and improving automation and control systems to support operational excellence and continuous improvement across the site.
You will report to the Engineering Manager and manage:
Control systems reliability & performance
- Ensure availability and reliability of automation and control systems across production lines
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues
- Maintain and optimize PLCs, and industrial control systems
- Support production teams in minimizing downtime and improving performance
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and GMP standards
Continuous improvement & optimization
- Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce losses
- Drive automation upgrades and system modernization initiatives
- Optimize control strategies and process parameters
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Contribute to plant performance and productivity improvement projects
Projects & cross-functional collaboration
- Lead or support control systems projects and new installations
- Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams
- Manage external suppliers and system integrators when needed
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to system standards
- Support knowledge sharing and capability building within the team

Hard skills
- Degree in Engineering or similar field. Desirable knowledge in Automation.
- Proven experience in electrical and industrial control systems and automation
- Experience in manufacturing or FMCG environments
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Project management and stakeholder collaboration capabilities
- Fluent English
