PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 

Coty’s Apprentice Engineers are based in Ashford (Kent), at a site which manufacturers global brand cosmetics such as Rimmel, Max Factor, and Bourjois. Working alongside our factory teams, our Apprentice Engineers will gain valuable training and experience in the industry, working with our line Engineers to train to become a Multi Skilled Engineer.

 

This is a significant opportunity for individuals who are engaged, numerate and analytical to start a real job, gain insights, and learn the foundations of Engineering from day one. Our apprentice engineer will work 4 days on site at our Ashford factory and spend one day at college per week.

 

Role Overview:

Apprentice Engineers will assist in the development and implementation of production lines, ensuring quality standards are met. They drive, assist, and undertake action plans to support constant improvement practices by

  • Learning technical skills and knowledge, developing work processes independently and within a team, to support the wider factory with day to day Engineering tasks
  • Working across different departments by supporting, facilitating, and assisting staff members in continuous improvement activities and or projects
  • Complying with statutory, quality, and organizational health and safety regulations while carrying out daily tasks
  • Learning to/ working on machine operations, including setting, adjusting, and controlling machine adaptation to produce within the required specifications.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Technical Skills

  • Understanding development trends in your field within and outside the organization
  • Front line problem solving and improvement projects in the production and manufacturing area alongside Engineers
  • Gain a good understanding of quality processes and measurements used
  • Use of precision measuring/testing equipment (with support)
  • Grow lean knowledge of production packing processes, filling, and finishing techniques and industrialization processes

 

Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all Company Safety Policies and adhere to all processes and procedures that are in place, including but not limited to: COSHH, PPE, accident/incident reporting, first aid, manual handling, Risk assessments
  •  Adherence to all Health & Safety at Work obligations
  • Challenge non-compliance to H&S, Quality and Hygiene Guidelines
  • Assist in investigating any accident or incident reports on the system

 

Quality Responsibilities

  • Assist in finding the root cause in any quality issue
  • Support equipment and process improvements to maintain quality standards.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Conditions of employment are in accordance with Coty’s policies. Applicants will require the following:

  • Level 2 qualification (Intermediate)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (sponsorship will not be provided)
