THE ROLE

The Senior Accountant reports to the Country CFO and is responsible for compliance and accounting of the Wella Company in Poland. She/He leads the accounting, advises the business on accounting and ensures external and internal reporting requirements (Local GAAP / IFRS) as well as tax compliance. Senior Accountant is also in charge of the Corporate Governance of the Country, for internal and external audit, for the statutory and financial statement preparation. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate statutory financial reporting process for the legal entity in Poland, including alignment with Shared Service Centers in Poland and abroad; 
  • Ensure compliance with group accounting policies as well as local regulations; 
  • Ensure compliance with local GAAP and make the translation to IFRS. 
  • Align with and provide input to the Global Finance Team / Tax Accounting group for periodic group reporting and consolidation purposes; 
  • Advise local business control and management on statutory and tax consideration in support of business decision; 
  • Improve accounting and compliance related to processes, creating capacity to support the future growth of the company; 
  • Implement best-in-class processes and systems to deliver accurate, reliable and timely financial statements 
  • Act as overall audit engagement coordinator & primary point of contact to external auditor; 
  • Coordinate / prepare / assist in preparation of supporting documentation for statutory audit compliance; 
  • Monitor tax compliance obligations in responsible territory and arrange for timely preparation of direct and indirect tax filings; 
  • First contact towards the Polish tax office and lead the preparation of response to queries on tax authorities in efficient & timely manner

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven working experience as Senior Accounting Manager (min 3 years) in a multinational company
  • Excellent understanding and management of P&L and Balance Sheet under Local GAAP and IFRS.
  • Strong Experience in month-end close process of both P&L and B/S
  • Experience in working in multi-functional environments
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance & Accounting
  • Strong  experience with SAP and extensive use of Excel
  • High level of mental agility with ability to manage complexity, connecting the dots and finding solutions
  • Change management attitude, ability to work in a changing environment
  • Proven knowledge and experience with applicable tax accounting rules in relation to Local GAAP / IFRS and related processes;
  • Ability to direct and supervise own organization and third party service providers
