ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The Initiative Planner is the single point of accountability for integration of initiatives, product changes, and other major changes into the Supply Chain.  The IP begins as the SPOC for Supply Chain inputs to the Project Base plan at Design stage.  The IP leads the multifunctional Planning Hub team in evaluation and execution of the project from Project Lock Scope Gate to going business (13 weeks post Start Of Shipment).  IP is responsible for the Planning Hub scope of tasks pertaining to the project and is accountable for ensuring Planning Hub project results meet targets of Cash (Inventory), Costs, Quality, Schedule (SOS) and Service.  The IP is the key Planning Hub interface to Global Project Leaders, Technical Readiness Leader (TRL), Production Site(s) Initiative Execution Leader (SIEL), Customization Initiative Leader (CIL)  and market initiative related tasks for the Project. The IP owns Planning Hub readiness for their projects.

Initiative Planner manages medium complexity projects as defined by Global Initiative Leaders (Challengers and Boosters) coordinating multifunctional team and communication with external parties

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Representing the Planning Hub to the Multi-functional initiative team.
  • Engaging/updating Supply Chain Leader/ Ops Leader/Planning Hub -Dir as needed on Initiative status, issues, action plans, and results
  • Owning Daily/Weekly/Monthly Supply Planning interface for other functions and disciplines for the PIPO FPCs in the defined supply network(s) of the Project.
  • Leveraging Planning Hub multi-functional teams and Key Users / Business Experts to improve initiative planning/delivery process and tools.
  • EARLY ENGAGEMENT (Lock Scope Gate)
  • Provides inputs to the Supply Network Design to deliver the Initiative Strategy for a Category.
  • Provides Planning Hub-owned inputs for the assessment of planned project vs. criteria of the Category.
  • Provides Planning Hub inputs to Category and Plant Operating Strategies (PIPO strategy for SKUs, Materials, Inventory, etc….) and BCP’s that are aligned with the initiative strategy.
  • Provide Planning Hub input to prelim FCR’s response, draft Project Base Plan, and including, but not limited to, running ‘what-if’ analyses for Capacity, Inventory, T&W and SOS timings.
  • Ensure strategies for PIPO and Remnant Handling Strategy are in the Project Base Plan and Financial Analysis.
  • Flag any gaps/risks noticeable in the project design at this stage, involve LCM/GIL in resolution of such gaps.

 

INITIATIVE PLAN DEVELOPMENT (Commit Gate)

 

  • Ensure sufficient/complete project base plan for Planning Hub planning/execution is documented (led by the Project Leader, with inputs from the TRL and/or CIL) => freeze project scope
  • Ensure sufficient and clear plans for PIPO/Remnant Handling Strategy written in the Project Base Plan and costed in the Financial Analysis.
  • RCCP:
    1. Ensure the RCCP and inventory PIPO plan capture all project needs and constraints (e.g. list line downtime needed) for all initiative volume from launch through 12 months for all finished products, materials and distribution system.
    2. Ensure the initiative demand is reflected in the respective platform RCCP down to critical component level
  • Ensure the supply plan is sufficient to support the initiative, including Product Samples and Base Product supply for Customization requirements
  • Translate the Product and Package Change plans in the project Base Plan into an actionable Planning Hub Base Plan in line with Product Sourcing, Artwork Clustering (i.e., language groups), SKU Complexity strategies and requirements defined and pre-aligned with the Project Leader and Planning Hub IP leadership.
  • Lead development of the Planning Hub Delivery CPS, integrating all supply planning elements (SIP, DRP, MSM, ESP, MD), packaging development leadtimes (artwork CPS, including registration) and country requirements (product samples, trade window, country regulation) into the Delivery CPS for the project. 

 

INITIATIVE READINESS MANAGEMENT (Execute Gate)

 

  • Ensure any project scope change is managed by the Global Initiative Leader and approved by appropriate leadership levels via change management process.
  • Lead the Supply Planning issue resolution process for changes in the base plan and providing feedback on the effect to the original projections on Cash, Cost, Quality, Schedule and Service.
  • Provide Planning Hub inputs to the FCR response.
  • Ensure the shipment forecast creation for all markets through Demand Plannning as part of criteria for the gate.
  • Execute Demand Flow Verification to all producing sites for the PIPO FPCs of the project.
  • Define supply contingency plans and ensure leadership decisions required are made to offset foreseen risks.  
  • Work with the MSM to validate material supply readiness – down to critical component level as part of PIPO management.
  • Maintain the supply planning assumptions in the Base Plan for the initiative, and ensure alignment with the project documents.
  • Synchronize all elements in the Delivery CPS to meet the target quantities per SKU in the planned First SOS. 
  • Clearly communicate to Planning Hub leadership and the Project Team the impacts of upstream CPS gaps on Planning Hub ability to meet overall project needs (timing, scope) and Planning Hub deliverables. 
  • Work with SIP and DRP to ensure all Supply Chain Planning Master Data is complete, linked, and activated.  Ensure pricing & costing for new materials & initiative sku’s (e.g. Standard Costs, ICBP, Scheduling Agreements, etc…).
  • Lead the Planning Hub Delivery  team to execute the PIPO plan
  • Provide regular Initiative Delivery Status to Planning Hub leadership.

 

INITIATIVE LAUNCH AND TRANSITION TO CLOSE-OUT (Post Launch 3 months)

 

  • Single point of accountability for Planning Hub on delivery and integration of initiatives into current business.  Own the hand-off process to current business and Initiative Tracking thru the first 13 weeks after National SOS.
  • Lead in meeting Delivery closeout from Planning Hub side.

 

 

 

     QUALIFICATIONS

 

This role will develop Intermediate to Advanced qualification level mastery in Project Management and Basic to Intermediate level of mastery in other Supply Chain work sub-processes. 

  • Leadership and influencing skills and, experience participating on and in leading cross functional teams. 
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills (clear, concise and timely)
  • Able to integrate information from a variety sources, comfortable challenging a team to reach consensus, and conflict resolution  
  • Will need basic understanding of Mfg, Planning, QA, R&D and Commercial/Go to Market planning.
  • Basic competency in the areas of Initiative and Project Management, MS Project, SAP, JDA, EXCEL
