THE ROLE 

As part of the North American (NA) Education team, the role is responsible to lead the Education strategy and curriculum content development for OPI North America. The role is to develop a strong GTM education model and content strategy to compliment and strengthen all distribution channels (incl. Nail Salons, Independent Nail Techs, Distributor stores, E-Commerce, and consumers). The role is to partner with the NA & Global commercial and Education teams to deliver and execute a fit-for-use education strategy aligned to the Education 5Cs; Community, Coverage, Craft, Capability, and Commercialization.  

 

This role is located in the Wella Company Professional Beauty headquarters in Calabasas, CA. 

 

In this role you will be responsible for: 

 

COMMUNITY 

  • Building and maintaining a strong network of OPI Design Team and Top Artists as well as nail industry influencers.  

  • Partnering with digital and social media teams to develop original content that is relevant for the professional nail community. 

  • Producing and occasionally appearing in Instagram and Facebook live events to show technical demonstrations such as nail art techniques and enhancement application techniques.   

  • Managing communication and engagement for OPI Facebook community groups. Partner with Digital Marketing to optimize UGC for digital platforms.  

 

COVERAGE 

  • Partnering with field Education Managers to capture the needs for each trade channel and has a clear understanding of what classes and formats need to be developed and delivered at internal and IC trainings. 

  • Adapting and customizing all education curriculum (digital and analog) to various customer channels needs and facilitation requirements. 

  • Organizing, writing and developing multimedia visual aids, and other educational and materials. 

 

CRAFT 

  • Collaborate with Global Education Design on creating seasonal nail art designs that are in line with the collection theme and vary in skill level.  

  • Contributing meaningful feedback to Global Design meetings and focus groups used to qualify new products and education design as required. 

  • Participates and leads OPI Artists at virtual events and live shows by creating the event format, products to be featured, and brand approved talking points. 

  • Staying up to date on competitive brands product launches by testing products and sharing insights with the broader Education and commercial team members. 

 

CAPABILITY 

  • Partnering with the Capability team to lead the ongoing capability and assessment for OPI Design Team and Top Artists. 

  • Creating presentations, trainer guides, multimedia visual aids, and other materials needed for Capability development. 

  • Presenting and deploying brand initiatives at Education Trainings, monthly Sales Meetings, and bi-annual National Sales Meetings.  

 

COMMERCIALIZATION 

  • Collaborating with the NA Marketing, Trade Marketing, Field Sales & Education teams to develop the education strategy and set priorities to enable best-in-class education classes, seminars and trainings tied to the marketing initiative and base business goals at all Education Touch Points (salons, stores, digital, studios, shows & Events, and schools). 

  • Maximize paid media plans by providing education content and recommendations for compelling messaging 

  • Leveraging paid search KWs and SEO to create content that is easily digestible for both consumer and professional audiences. 

  • Collaborating with the Global brand Education team to develop and recommend the ideas needed to make the brands a clear POD in the NA market. 

  • Briefing and providing input to agencies and vendors to ensure product benefits, proper usage, and navigation comes through in all creative and packaging assets 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5+ years of experience in similar role or capacity 

  • Licensed nail technician (min 5 years)  

  • Program development (concepts, go to market, new capabilities (i.e. digital, etc) programs for product initiatives and education programs   

  • Ability to work cross-functionally across teams 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including strong presentation and facilitation skills 

  • Strong project management skills 

  • Strategic thinking                  

  • Budget tracking 

  • Experience in working with Sales  

  • Training and development of others  

  • Good understanding of competitive landscape of other nail brands in regard to field education and understanding how to develop a program to meet market needs with a clear point of difference 

  • Knowledge/Experience of the Professional Salon industry  

  • Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, and Adobe Creative 

  • College Degree or Acceptable work-related experience 

  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle proof of insurance, and ability to drive and travel long distances for extended periods. 

  • Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, refugee, asylee or lawful permanent resident.
