Assistant Manager, Media

JOB TITLE:                   Assistant Manager, Media

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role will be supporting a best-in-class media team for North America and will include assisting with full-funnel planning and strategic work seeing campaign execution from start to finish. The Assistant Media Manager will be responsible for overseeing campaigns from briefing to launch, identifying learnings, insights, and act as the media guardian to make business recommendations relevant to the overall growth of the brands in the beauty category. The brands include Clairol Retail Hair, Wella Professionals, OPI, Nioxin, Clairol Professional, Wella Color Charm, and Sebastian. 

 

The function is primarily focused on:

  1. Driving paid media effectiveness and efficiency: Across TV/CTV/Search/Social/Video/Mobile/ Programmatic/Display/Digital and Social Marketing
  2. Using analytics to drive performance: Translate research and data platform work into actionable steps that drive media performance
  3. Media education: Ensuring that US brand marketers understand and implement best in class media and content practices

                                                                                                                                                           

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with media agency in developing media plans that reach brand goals
  • Asst. Senior manager to manage the entire project flow from review of authorization accuracy, QA leadership (assets, tagging, legal requirements, content, reporting requirements, research studies), accuracy in execution, optimization, and evaluation
  • Contribute to strategic and tactical media plan evaluation to ensure alignment with the brief
  • QA, validate, and review digital media assets and partner-created custom content, and ensure all U.S. market best practices and IAB requirements are applied.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (eComm, Influencer, Global Media) to work holistically to achieve brand results
  • Liaise with agency on planning, execution, strategy and reporting for campaigns and partnership opportunities
  • Develop & foster connections with top media partners, in conjunction with media agency as applicable, to be aware of existing and new media providers, products and properties available
  • Review agency reporting for accuracy, ensure media learnings are identified and later implemented in future campaigns.
  • Assist the Senior Manager in managing workflow with vendors on strategic partnerships, roadmaps and agendas for monthly calls
  • Help the Senior Manager and Director plan holistic Search strategies across all partners and ensure learnings are applied across the portfolio
  • Be a thought leader in the media and marketing space and up to date on latest channels, platforms, buying methods and ad units
  • Act as a media knowledge resource for brand marketing teams

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge in all areas of media include strategy, planning & buying across all media types (TV/CTV/FEP, Social Media, Search, Video, Programmatic)
  • Knowledge of SEM with experience in planning paid Search media
  • Project management skills
  • Attention to detail: the ideal candidate will love digging into details
  • Focus on results and tenacity to get things done on time and on budget despite internal and external obstacles
  • Proactivity and start-up mindset: ability to move, propose new ideas and take actions before asked
  • Knowledge of the Beauty environment (competitive brands, retail environment, digital activations)
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Analytical skills
  • 3+ years relevant work experience in media
  • A bachelor's degree is required        

 

REQUIRED SKILLS: 

  • Analytical Approach: Mathematical bend of mind. Work with CMI, agencies, and third-party research vendors to apply latest data-based thinking to measurement, optimization, and attribution plans across all digital and paid campaigns structure
  • Social Media: Extremely well versed in all social media platforms. Strong background in Social Strategy, and consumer behaviors across all US social platforms. Ability to creatively ideate social media activity, programs and paid media while applying best practices
  • Search Media: Ability to manage agency with all SEM buys and ensure we are planning Search holistically across all channels
  • Digital media planning/buying: Experience in planning/buying digital media across display, social, search, video, and mobile platforms. Familiarity with IAB guidelines and creative best practices. Complete understanding of asset trafficking and analytic process
  • Strategic: Planning, administration, budget & cost analysis, facilitation, creativity, problem analysis, decision making
  • Business:  Work-flow structuring, monitoring, product knowledge, account administration, automated office systems, analytical, quantitative, organizational, detail-oriented, time management
  • Creativity and Innovation: Creativity, Business savvy, originality, intuition
  • Passion for Brands/Beauty – in-tune with the marketplace, seeks out new ideas and inspiration
