NPD & Innovation Senior Procurement Manager

At Wella Procurement you are responsible for bringing the best ideas, talent and capability to support the company’s business needs.  You will develop and execute sourcing strategies which deliver best value in terms of innovation, quality, service, cost and cash. 

We invest in our relationships:  procurement teams develop and manage important external business partner relationships to enable the delivery of the company’s plans and growth objectives. 

Working with your Wella colleagues you will represent our business needs toward external business partners and be an active advocate who also flows ideas from our external partners into Wella teams.  You will work to enable our business and an agile and effective supply chain for all our goods and services, responsive to the changes in our business.

The role of NPD senior procurement manager is to deliver innovation and sustainability to the Wella company brand portfolio on brands such as Wella Professional, OPI, WeDo, Nioxin, Sebastian, or System Professional by scouting inside and outside the supplier and partner portfolio.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to deliver never done before formula technologies and packaging to the new Wella Company.

This position works closely with internal stakeholders throughout Marketing, Research & Development, global project teams, and manufacturing. The role requires brand and marketing strategy understanding as well as a broad knowledge of packaging technologies to identify the best solutions for the Wella company innovation pipeline.

  • Scout the market to deliver innovation for Hair Care and Nail Care, including blue-sky innovation.
  • Support innovation and initiative needs of the Wella company brands as defined by the Initiative Master Plan, working with procurement colleagues both in NPD and category teams to deliver ideas, estimate costs and deliver products on target value, on time.
  • Meet brands’ financial targets as defined at project kick off.
  • On time supply chain and pricing set up to meet the initiative constrained timing and enable the company to reach its net revenue targets.
  • Support business plan to improve ethical and environmental sourcing
  • Implement governance and control including contractual agreements and policies


  • As part of the procurement organization, make the connections and integrated capability of the whole team to deliver maximum efficiency and value to business
  • Support implementation of processes to improve efficiency of sourcing activities
  • Engage and influence stakeholders to support definition of Category Strategies and bringing these strategies to life
  • Continue to train and develop in procurement best practices and skills


Profile and education:

  • Experience in procurement of innovation, supplier partnership and business development, 5-10 years.
  • Work experience in an international environment and matrix organizations.
  • Capable and proven track record of stakeholder management including business Leaders (internal and external)
  • Experience in implementing, developing and integrating a new organization
  • Experience in working in less mature and ‘white space’ spend categories
  • Degree qualified preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or other relevant discipline. MBA advantageous.
  • High degree of fluency in written and spoken English is required, other languages Spanish/French is an asset.

Key competencies and demonstrated Skills:

  • Must have a strong interest in packaging & raw material innovation, beauty, and sustainability.
  • Solid proven track record in delivering innovation in packaging and raw materials.
  • Flawless communication skills are required both within the procurement organization and outside with business and technical stakeholders. Can easily navigate through the organization to remove roadblocks to achieve objectives.
  • Results driven in a changing environment, the NPD Senior Manager embraces change while keeping objectives on target.
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities: can manage several projects with their own supply chain challenges and in different stage of completion.
  • Very strong collaboration and influencing skills given stakeholder management internally and externally is a critical element for success in this role
  • Knowledge of e-sourcing tools
  • Able to travel in support of business
