THE ROLE

The Senior Manager role is a headquarter account management role on one of the largest global customers (Sally Beauty ~20% of NA business) for the Hair Category (destination & key strategic category) and the portfolio of brands under the Wella Color Charm banner, representing ~$40 in Net Revenue.

The role is accountable to lead and execute with excellence a Joint Business Plan developed and aligned at the customer headquarters (Denton, TX) but comes to life in ~3,000 stores with a national footprint.  The Sr. Manager is also expected to deliver channel/ brand business targets including growing net revenue and share through superior sales fundamentals (i.e. price, distribution, merchandising, shelving), and through the development of business plans which drive business building upon customer and brand priorities and winning strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Meet/Exceed established Sales Quotas

  • Sell conceptually using data, business planning, sales fundamentals, effective trade spending and event measurement payout. 
  • Develop executable plans to deliver the strategy:
    • Design account specific promotional plans to achieve quotas.
    • Collaborate with internal functions and external customers.
    • Develop/maintain volume building blocks to monitor progress.
    • Develop forecast estimate documents for demand planning, by customer, by strategic brand to deliver 5% (+/-) monthly estimate.
  • Identify creative solutions to remove barriers at the customer to deliver sales quotas

 

Lead the Customer

  • Create alignment and collaborative relationships with the customer and centralized buying structures.  Penetrate the customer organization at different levels and functions to enable Wella business to grow.
      • Can personally create value at senior levels of the customer.
  • Develop a collaborative customer monthly promotional plan, utilizing trade and account specific funds to deliver sales targets with a clear return on investment.
  • Play an active role in the development and execution of the customer HQ Joint Business Plan with formal quarterly checkpoint in F2F meetings with the key customers stakeholders including VP+ level contact.
  • Think and act strategically. Has strong analytical skills to be able to understand business/category trends and adapt plans and activity accordingly

 

Specialize within Channel (Be the Expert)

  • Play an important strategic role with internal teams (Marketing/Trade Marketing) helping to shape national plans and initiative plans while in development. Regularly input in presentation content for NA leadership and Global reviews.
  • Report activity and opportunities to the organization via monthly status reports.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of customer’s competitors and customers via store checks, online monitoring as well as their promotional and new initiative activity.
  • Collaborate with Customer Marketing in the development and measurement of key customer and channel specific promotions and plans.
  • Manage educational and merchandising support.
  • Customer/Channel/ Brand team participation where applicable

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4+ years’ experience in HQ selling role
  • Strong leadership, thinking and problem solving, initiative and follow through
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently with clear focus on deliverables
  • Results oriented
  • Demonstrates advanced computer skills – Microsoft Office,  PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Strong data management/analytics skills
  • 10% Travel
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Desirable:

  • Beauty Industry experience
