THE ROLE

Own and drive the growth of the full portfolio of professional and retail beauty brands (hair, nails and tools) by partnering with the company’s top chain customers in the assigned territory.  Deliver strategy in order to achieve sales targets through the development of joint business plans and through superior sales fundamentals, i.e. price/promotion, distribution, merchandising, and shelving. This position partners with and provides guidance to a multi-functional team (product supply, education, marketing, etc).  Develop and manage team. 

Through a total understanding of Ulta’s and Wella Co business objectives is able to develop a cohesive vision, business strategy, and action plan that will deliver, with excellence, the agreed-to business results.

Responsible for challenging the status quo and influencing the organization to develop new go-to-market opportunities and obtain widespread support by working effectively with others. Ability to penetrate across the Customer organization, including merchandising, marketing, supply chain, and finance at the appropriate levels, institute agreed to business principles, and have regular contact.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Management:

  • Develop Strategy for Ulta and brands for the team.
  • Ensure that JBPs are created and delivered for the team. (includes Quarterly Business Reviews and Sell in meetings)
  • Build relationships with key decision makers
  • Ensure delivery of new initiative launch plans that leverage the base and halo the promotional activities. 
  • Comfort working with C-level executives to provide strategic counsel that will help retain and grow existing customer relationships
  • Utilizes strong customer focus to understand key drivers of business and action customer needs
  • Collects business, point of sale, and market trend data and analyzes to determine new business opportunities
  • Develop and implement business-building strategic plans and account-specific shopper marketing programs to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Integrates corporate strategy with customer’s go-to-market strategy.
  • Continue to review planogram productivity and opportunities for Space Gains

Team Leader & Coach:

  • Builds a high performing culture with multi-functional team and direct reports
  • Coach direct reports in strategy setting and targeted problem solving
  • Collaborates with Product Supply and Customer Service on issue shooting
  • Collaborates with Trade Marketing on marketing plans and creative
  • Collaborates with Chains Channel Manager on customer requirements
  • Collaborates with Education on educational planning and execution
  • Need to be a relationship builder and natural networker
  • Need to be a critical thinker. Lead project management with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Become adaptable and ambitious. You will enthusiastically take on other assignments as needed to support your team.
  • Strong leader. Exhibit initiative and sense of urgency to drive to execution against goals, including on time launches and minimal variance vs. budget.

Business Management:

  • Responsible for analyzing industry and customer trends
  • Responsible for budgets and forecasts
  • Deliver Opps and Risks monthly and then bring Opps to life.
  • Drive sustainable market share and profitable growth, based on in-depth competitive landscape and consumer insights

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 + years of business experience in Sales, Category Management or Retail Management. 
  • Acts as a business owner (driven, tenacious, and accountable)
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and organizational/time management skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the following systems:  Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to travel (20-40%) 
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization

Desirable:

  • Professional beauty experience & a passion for all things beauty
